East Baltimore from Amtrak train (by mr cookie)
someone’s comment: ” i hate when people say that Baltimore is all “ghetto”…yeah Baltimore has its bad areas but what city doesnt? maybe Baltimores is worse…maybe you literally cannot turn on the news without hearing about a shooting or 20. but i honestly think that adds to the charm.”
honestly one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Think the word you’re looking for is “character” and not charm.

Dearest Baltimore,
My sister has a blog about happy hour spots in Charm City. As an extremely social law school graduate, you should trust her opinion on where to drink (for cheap!).
Without further ado, The Happy Hour Crew.
duly bookmarked.

The B did a section on Baltimore’s Superheroes and Supervillains in honor of Comic-con. These were my favorites.
Amy, the Rat King one reminds me of you!! LOL ew bmore is so gross. (Also, check out the MICA hipster!)
I didn’t have high hopes for the b initially, but I’ve grown to love it. It’s irreverent and sassy and surprisingly awesome and best of all: FREE.

Just heard an interesting take on WYPR regarding the term “hon.” Someone called in at the end of the Maryland Midday (or whatever it’s called) show to say that he is really resentful of the term because its usage is supposedly traced back to the 1960’s as places were integrated and forced to serve…
“MARYLAND MIDDAY”?!!! GET THE FUCK OUT, HDU BESMIRCH THE GOOD NAME THAT IS DAN RODDRICKS. How am I supposed to trust you with the etymology of “hon” if you can’t even 1) get “Midday with Dan Roddricks” right (you’re confusing it with “Maryland Morning”) and 2) provide a link?
That being said…it’s unfortunate if this is true :S

First the Talking Head, now Sonar. This is a travesty. WILL THERE BE NO ART LEFT IN BALTIMORE?
holy shit. Sonar is THE place to see live music in Baltimore. And I didn’t even know they had closed down the Talking Head. Talking Head was the first club venue I ever went to (although it was when I was 16 to see Harry and the Potters ROFL).
